In her Instagram story, she wrote, “Just a note to all the vegetarians or vegans out there! Please make sure you’re using SALT with IODINE in it. I’ve just found out I have an iodine deficiency. And table salt is the easiest way to get iodine. Thank you, guys! Love you all!”

This way, not only she revealed about her iodine deficiency but also urged her fans to incorporate salt in their diets. Sonam is a vegan. Being vegan offers a variety of benefits but this diet also has some disadvantages. Iodine deficiency is one of them as vegans usually avoid eating salted food and majorly eat fruits and other vegan items.

Swollen Neck

When the body is deficient in iodine, the neck may become swollen which is called goitre. When the thyroid gland does not get enough supply of iodine, it will try to absorb more from the blood and thus becomes enlarged.
