Honey & Haldi Face Mask

Mira relies on this mask when her skin needs a little pick-me-up! To brighten up the skin, she just needs a little honey & a pinch of haldi (turmeric) and leaves it on for about 20 minutes.
“Honey, as you all know, is a natural humectant (preserves the moisture of the skin) and haldi is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. I like to use it for when I have zits or muddy looking skin that is not looking fresh. Because the haldi doesn’t totally dissolve in the honey, it is granular, which gives a good exfoliation as it breaks down all the dead skin cells and leaves the skin supple and healthy,” Mira said.

Raw Milk Facial Cleanser

Looking for another brightening ingredient for your skin? Go for the raw milk!

“I have seen my mom putting raw milk on her face ever since I can remember. It was her go-to-remedy for everything, whether it was sunburn, an uneven tan if the skin is feeling dry or not feeling healthy, she used to do this every morning and still does,” shared Mira Rajput, who likes to apply it onto her face with a cotton ball. She further added, “as soon as it dries up, you do it again till you finish up the milk left in your bowl. It’s truly up to you how much milk you want. I like to use 3 tablespoons of milk and add a little bit of rose water (as I personally don’t like the smell of raw milk).”

It gives you an instant glow, thanks to the presence of lactic acid in raw milk. She loves to apply it when her skin feels dry, flaky, and sunburnt. She even uses it on her kids when they play way too much in the sun and get sunburnt. So, if you want a cleaner, moisturized skin, apply raw milk every morning. Just make sure to get the best quality milk!

DIY Homemade Facial

Mira confessed that she’s never actually gotten a professional facial, even before her wedding. She shared, “there’s this concept of bridal facial and I was like no way, I’m not letting anyone else touch my face.”

Mira does her facial herself at home. She cuts a lemon and applies it on her face. “The nimbu fibres become brush-like. It is highly acidic (dilute the lemon juice, if you have sensitive skin) but I like the after-effect,” she shared. Once she is done with it, she shifts to a homemade face mask which includes besan and dahi as the basic components. You may add whatever other ingredients you have in your home including orange peel, moringa powder, neem powder, saffron and rosewater, sandalwood, etc. Make sure to remove the mask once it is semi-dried.

After that, Mira applies tomato juice on her face for 10 minutes. And finally, finishes off by slathering on aloe vera which tones and tightens the skin. “Don’t forget to put all this stuff on your neck as well,” she suggested.

Basil Anti-Acne Spot Treatment

If you are facing a serious PCOS-like acne condition, this one is for you!

To get rid of zits, Mira steeps basil in water. Once it is cooled, she dabs cotton in it and applies it on her zit. “The zit temporarily settles, reducing the redness and the bump,” she confirmed.

DIY Beauty Recipes For Hair

DIY Hibiscus Hair-Growth Oil

“I’ve always seen hibiscus as an ingredient for hair packs, so why not make it yourself?” asked Mira.

She mixes seven-eight hibiscus leaves and two hibiscus flowers with coconut oil, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, amla powder and neem powder. She gives it a good boil and then lets it steep. Once it is cooled, she bottles it and applies whenever needed.

Flaxseed Hair Gel

For this, she boils half a cup of flax seeds in a pan of water and heats it till the water reduces and comes to a gel-like consistency. She passes it through a strainer and voila, your hair mask is ready!
“The gel is quite a good hack for baby hair. It helps you keep your hair neat and nourishes you at the same time,” Mira shared.
